| Conrad Kühnlein and his wife Louisa and four children emigrated to the US from Germany in 1840 (Conrad and George arrived via New Orleans in Feb 1840 while his wife Louise and three other children arrived via Baltimore at the end of 1840). Initially they settled in Wheeling, WV. The surname was Americanized to "Keeline" and virtually everyone with that surname is related to this initial family. A short time later, most of the family moved to Council Bluffs, IA, where the family was a significant influence in the cattle industry and a number of others. The Keeline Family has held reunions in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1994; Colorado Springs in 1997; and Wheeling, West Virginia in June 2000. |
