Impressive Ceremony Conducted Over the Remains of Wm. Keeline, a Former Citizen of Wheeling
[reprinted in Daily Nonpariel of Council Bluffs, 27 Mar 1885]
Wheeling, WV, Register March 23:
Yesterday afternoon occurred the funeral ceremonies over the remains of Mr. William Keeline, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, from the residence of Mr. F.C. Myers, 1046 Main Street. The services were conducted under the auspices of the Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias societies and were very impressive, the Rev E.H. Dorablaser being the officiating minister. A double quartette from the Arion Singing society beautifully rendered that suggestive and touching song, "Quiet be Thy Slumbers," which was heartily applauded in the silent looks of approval from the many friends present. When the casket was placed on the pavement, so that the different societies might do honor to their dead brother, the Opera House orchestra played in a sweet measure, "Nearer, My God, to Thee." Then the funeral procession started, headed by the band, after which came the Coeur de Leon division of the Knights of Pythias, and the other societies, who marched to Mount Wood Cemetery, where the remains were interred. At the grave the services were conducted by Rev. Dornblaser, assisted by the Odd Fellows, the ceremonies being very impressive and beautiful. The remains were consigned to their last resting place, surrounded by a large assemblage of friends and relatives of the deceased, many prominent gentlemen being present.

The Wheeling Intteligencer of the same date says:
The funeral of Mr. William Keeline whose death at Council Bluffs was chronicled in the Intelligencer last week, took place yesterday afternoon [22 Mar 1885] at 2 o'clock from the residence of Mr. F.C. Meyers, on Main Street. The services were conducted by Rev. E.H. Dornblaser, of the English Lutheran Church, and were very impressive. The singing was led by a double quartette, from the Arion society, who rendered "Sweet and Quiet by Thy Slumber." The pallbearers were from the Knights of Pythias and Odd Fellows, of which orders he was a member, and considerable numbers of the members of the various lodges in the city attended, including the Coeur de Leon division, Uniformed Rank. The Opera House band headed the cortege to Mt. Wood, where the interment took place, and before the departure of the funeral from the residence rendered "Nearer, My God, to Thee." An unusually large number of friends followed the remains to the cemetery, where the Odd Fellows conducted funeral services after their ritual.
