| "Death of John Dohany. Well Known Old Resident Passes Away from Heart Failure." DAILY NONPARIEL, Wed 19 Jun 1895 John Dohany died at his residence on Park avenue last night at 12 o'clock after an illness of several months. Mr Dohany was one of the pioneers of Council Bluffs, coming here in 1856. He at once entered into the livery business on Upper Broadway but after three years removed to the location of his old opera house, now Liberty hall, on Bryant street. This was built in 1871 and is still used for hall and livery purposes. He has always been closely connected with the theatrical business since that time, the present opera house on Broadway bearing his name, having been built in 1883. Five children survive him, Mrs. M. G. Griffin, Mrs. W. A. Maurer, Dell Dohany, Mrs. Weill Keeline and John Dohany. Mrs. Dohany passed away five years ago. The arrangements for the funeral will be made later. __________ DAILY NONPARIEL, Thu. 20 Jun 1895. The death of John Dohany removes from Council Bluffs not only an old and respected citizen but one who has done much to build up the city. The relatives have the sincere sympathy of THE NONPARIEL in their bereavement. | ||||||
